"I was stunned at how good I felt."
The solution for Richard Porter was improved recovery and sustained energy from the Garden Trio - BarleyLife, Just Carrots, and RediBeets.
Richard's challenge?
Completing a demanding 300-mile charity bike ride.
Twice before, the 300-mile ride from his hometown of Plainview, Texas, to the Dallas–Fort Worth area had ended in disappointment and unanswered questions.
The answers came from a friend, Debra Pugh, who introduced Richard to the beet, carrot, and barley powders known as the Garden Trio.
"I was stunned at how good I felt after trying the Garden Trio," Richard said.
"The first time I took it was instead of breakfast before a workout. I had incredible energy for the ride - energy I hadn't had before. That sold me."
Richard realized his biggest obstacle wasn't riding ability, but recovery. Riding 100 miles in one day is exhausting, yet he planned to do it three days in a row.
On his first two attempts, he completed only two days. On his third attempt, with the Garden Trio, he finished the full 300 miles.
"On the ride, the recovery part of the Garden Trio became critical," Richard explained.
"A trained cyclist can bike 100 miles in one day. But can they do it two days in a row? Three days in a row?"
"When I took the Garden Trio at night after each leg, I didn't have the fatigue, soreness, or lethargy I normally experienced the next day."
The ride included obstacles such as strong headwinds, multiple flat tires, and unexpected road construction.
At age forty-nine, Richard acknowledged he didn't have the same stamina he once did, but he found support through the Garden Trio.
"It seems to work remarkably well for me as both an energy drink and a recovery drink," he said.
"Being able to work out hard, drink the Garden Trio, and get up the next day ready to go again is amazing."
Richard continues participating in charity rides to raise funds for a scholarship endowment for college-age missionaries.
P.S. To match the nutritional value of one serving of BarleyLife, it would take approximately three servings of green vegetables. It also takes about twenty-five pounds of carrots to equal one pound of Just Carrots, and twenty-five pounds of beets to equal one pound of RediBeets.
