All the Experts Said It Wasn’t Possible
“Why was I able to stay cancer-free and have a healthy baby when all the experts said it wasn’t possible?”
In 1987, at age thirty-two, Katherine “Cass” Brown Capel was diagnosed with aggressive stage II breast cancer.
At the time, she describes herself as a “Taco Bell Queen” and “Diet Coke Drunk.”
A friend eventually introduced her to a woman named Julia Braddock, who had used intensive nutritional changes after her own cancer diagnosis.
Julia also introduced Cass to young barley grass juice powder.
Years later, Cass saw Julia again and barely recognized her.
She looked younger.
Healthier.
Radiant.
Cass remembers complimenting Julia’s skin.
Julia replied:
“Barley juice retards your aging.”
Cass laughed and answered:
“No. It reverses it.”
Soon people started noticing changes in Cass too.
They kept asking what she was doing differently.
But the deeper part of her story involved something else.
Children.
Following her cancer diagnosis, doctors strongly discouraged her from ever becoming pregnant.
Years later, specialists still warned her against it.
One fertility doctor told her there was virtually no chance.
Another warned her about the risks and questioned why she would even try.
Cass says those conversations deeply affected her.
But instead of giving up hope, something inside her shifted.
Within a month, she became pregnant.
In November 1999, she gave birth naturally to a healthy daughter named Ariana.
Years later, Ariana was thriving in school, working at a horse ranch, and knitting sweaters and socks for friends during the winter.
Cass credits major dietary changes, nutritional support, and consistent use of BarleyLife as part of her journey.
She says she never wants to be without it.
