I recently had the occasion to hike the Highline Trail in Glacier National Park. The trail starts at about 4,200 feet, goes for 11.6 miles and ends at about 6,500 feet on the continental divide in Montana.
I hiked with two other gentlemen, one half my age (I’m 57) who is a hiker and another about 3-4 years younger than I am, who is an avid long-distance road biker.
Now, I love to hike, but the last time I hiked anything of significance was over three years ago.
The last time before that was about six years ago.
Of course, as always I started my day with the Garden Trio and my regimen of AIM supplements.
We began hiking about 9:00 a.m., me in the lead on an initial, very steep grade. I had so much energy, I pulled away from these two guys who are in quite good shape. I kept having to wait for them and once they caught up, I'd quickly pull away from them again.

In the past, every time I hike a strenuous hike, at the end I am extremely stiff in my thighs, knees and hips. This is because I hold nothing back and go all out.
