For Head Colds and Sinus Infections
One way to fight head colds and sinus infections, without using antibiotics, is to rinse your sinuses.
Some people call it a nasal saline irrigation treatment. You can do this by rinsing them once or twice a day, as soon as you feel an infection.
Mix 1/2 teaspoon of salt with 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda, along with two cups warm water. Flush each nostril with one cup of the solution. You can also make an extra quantity for additional flushes, as needed.
You can buy a sinus rinse kit at any local drug store.
It can take a few days to a week of flushing to get rid of all the gunk, but it gets better every day.
Note: One brand that is highly recommended is the Neilmed brand.
Another idea is to use oil of oregano (Super Strength Oil of Oregano P73, taken with OregaMax by North America Herb and Spice Company).
Some say simply sniffing it will open your sinus cavities.
