Somehow, corn has managed to enter the American diet disguised as a vegetable. In fact, corn is a grain.
Why does this matter?
Because corn is not only a grain, but an unhealthy one. Corn is the most sugary, starchy, empty grain out there.
Now, an occasional corn on the cob is not going to hurt you.
But corn should be consumed on a very limited basis. It's a high-glycemic sugarfest.

Because the government subsidizes corn farmers, there is an abundance of cheap corn available - and it is highly profitable.
The fact that corn oil is terrible for you, producing trans fats and no Omega-3's, doesn't seem to matter.
Corn oil, and its trans-fat twin, hydrogenated corn oil, are in everything.
Take a look at just about any food in the middle aisles of your grocery store.
It likely contains corn oil. If it doesn't have corn oil, it will have corn syrup. Sometimes both.
Even worse is corn a sweetener, also known as high fructose corn syrup. It is really, really cheap for food manufacturers and sweeter than sugar.
High fructose corn syrup is in soda, sports drinks, kids' snacks, candy, breakfast cereals and more, to name just a few items.
With diabetes a runaway epidemic and obesity on the rise, avoiding corn and any corn by-products is one way to ensure good health.
