How to Lower Your Risk of Cancer

A study by the American Society of Clinical Oncology has found most Americans have no idea how to lower their risk of cancer.

Only one out of three people believed maintaining a healthy weight would help to prevent cancer.

Only half believed that exercise would help.

A mere 38 percent thought a diet rich in fresh vegetables and fruits would reduce cancer risk.

In fact, all of these are known to reduce your risk of cancer. Eating lots of fresh, organic vegetables is probably the single most important thing anyone can do.

Regular consumption of fresh vegetable juice is a great idea for everyone.

A 2003 study in the Journal of Biological Chemistry found men who eat more cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, and kale, are less likely to develop prostate cancer.

In addition to nutrients, vegetables contain fiber.

A study in Lancet found the fiber in a diet of whole vegetables, fruits, grains, and beans helped to prevent colon cancer.

Those who consumed the most fiber had a 40 percent reduction in risk over those who consumed the least.
