The Benefits of a Juice Diet

People who desire to lose weight will do so on a juice diet. The average person can lose one-half pound every two to three days.

Also, the health benefits of a juice diet are extremely rewarding.

"One month on a juice diet produces the same health results as six months on a very strict eating program of primarily raw fruits and vegetables." - Dr. Joel Robbins

When a person on a juice diet begins to experience the healing ability of the body, he or she is very motivated to continue on in a natural lifestyle of proper eating and exercise to prevent disease and maintain health.

The juice diet is straightforward and simple to follow. There are no special foods to buy - just fruits and vegetables. A juice diet is not hard to stay with; in fact it is quite easy.

A juice diet is not a fast because you will be taking in an abundant amount of nutrients throughout your juice diet. The important key is to drink a minimum of two quarts throughout the day.

If you decide to stay on a juice diet for a period of time, it is possible to socialize while on the juice diet and not lose any momentum. If you must, you can eat a meal or two within the following guidelines, without feeling guilty or ruining the program:

  • Eat a meal (solid food) only if you absolutely must.
  • Do this no more than two times per month while you are on a juice diet.
  • Limit this solid food meal to only salad, steamed vegetables, and/or a baked potato.
  • One helping only – eat until satisfied, not stuffed.
  • If questioned, simply tell people you are on a "diet" and leave it at that.

For those who miss chewing there is an answer! You can consume the following once per day:

  • Any piece of fruit like an apple, orange, a bunch of grapes, etc.
  • Melons: You may eat all the melons you desire. This is because melons digest and absorb as easily as juiced vegetables.
  • Raw and unsalted nuts and seeds (1-2 ounces by weight)(almonds, pecans, filberts, pistachios, or sunflower seeds; Note: peanuts are not in this category. They are a legume and are very difficult to digest.

Note: This is an excerpt from Dr. Joel Robbins’ book, Juicing for Health. This book is an excellent guide for doing a juice diet.
