They Told Him to Go Home and Enjoy the Time He Had Left

They told him to go home and enjoy the time he had left.

There was nothing more they could do.

The treatments weren’t working.

The cancer had spread.

He was sent home.

A hospital bed in the house.

Hospice started coming in.

That’s where things were.

Then something changed.

Not all at once.

But enough to notice.

He told his wife one day:

“I can’t just lay here anymore.”

So he got up.

And started walking.

The nurse kept coming.

Checking on him.

Watching what was happening.

She couldn’t explain it.

Later, the doctor looked at his scans.

Then looked at him.

“I am utterly shocked.”

He wasn’t supposed to be there.

But he was.
