Rocky Mount Woman Relives Miraculous Flight
It sounds like something out of a movie.
But it really happened.
In January 1982, Janice Gravely was flying with her husband Edmund in a small four-seat airplane.
Then suddenly, at 8,000 feet, tragedy struck.
Her husband, the pilot, lost consciousness.
Janice had no flying experience.
No idea how to land the plane.
And no way to escape.
Over the radio, people across eastern North Carolina listened as she cried out for help and prayed aloud while the plane circled through the sky for hours.
Eventually the aircraft crash-landed in a field and struck a tree.
Injured and unable to walk properly, Janice crawled hundreds of yards searching for help.
She survived.
Her husband did not.
Years later, Janice continued sharing her story around the world.
Not just about survival.
But about faith, resilience, and being given a second chance at life.
What makes her story even more remarkable is that later in life, Janice also transformed her health after learning more about nutrition and whole-food supplementation.
She became living proof that sometimes people can change the direction of their lives more than once.
