Harvard: The Whys of Rising Obesity

Walter Willett and his panel of experts from the Harvard School of Public Health say the manipulative marketing of "junk food" to kids from the food industry is the biggest problem regarding the obesity rates among children.

They also say eating in front of the television, modern technology that takes up to seven hours of the day and the modern American diet have also led to the rising obesity rates.

They blame increased portion sizes (calories) and sugary beverages as the main culprits, but they acknowledge the rise in the consumption of carbohydrates as a key reason for increasing obesity.
